Anxiety

“It’s OKAY to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave.”
Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

Having anxiety is a constant struggle. Sometimes it creeps up for no reason at all and sometimes there are plenty of reasons that seem to pile up around you. You feel so alone. Misunderstood. Most people don’t know how to deal with you or you don’t want to bother them at all. So you start to distance yourself from them. Being told to relax or calm down does nothing but fuel the fire. There is nothing that logically we would rather do but its like telling a diabetic to not be diabetic. If only it were that easy. Trust me if it was that easy I would do it on both counts. All you really need is someone to listen and be there… distract you, make you feel heard, loved, understood… the list could go on and on, but all of those things are a good start.

I’m here to tell you… you are loved and I do understand… and it’s okay… everything is going to be okay… somehow it always is. You are strong, even if you don’t feel like you are right now… You are strong!

“I have always felt that fear possesses such great power, enough to paralyze and quake an individual. Pondering this, I realized that the source of fear’s power comes from within me. So, I ask myself, does that not make me the powerful one?”

Fill your life with love

Best Valentine Quotes (8)

“Love is the only answer to every question. It is the only thing that will serve you in every situation. It is the route and the destination. It is medication, liberation and should be at the heart of and expression of your vocation.”
Rasheed Ogunlaru

Perhaps, instead of looking at Valentine’s Day as a day to celebrate our relationships, we should use it to celebrate love itself. Take a look at everything around you and approach it with love. Look at the situation or person with loving eyes and see how your outlook changes. Make a stranger smile. Get a rose for a friend who hasn’t found their special someone. It doesn’t have to stop once Valentine’s day is over either. Approach your life with love…

Alexander Graham Bell

gbellquote

“Don’t keep forever on the public road, going only where others have gone, and following one after the other like a flock of sheep. Leave the beaten track occasionally and dive into the woods. ‘Every time you do so you will be certain to find something that you have never seen before. Of course it will be a little thing, but do not ignore it. Follow it up, explore all around it; one discovery will lead to another, and before you know it you will have something worth thinking about to occupy your mind. All really big discoveries are the results of thought.”
Alexander Graham Bell

What if Alexander Graham Bell had never invented the telephone? What if he just gave up when things got difficult? Our lives would be considerably different… Our ways of communicating would be… well lets face it… we don’t know what they would be.

Think about it…

What if you could create something, that could change the course of the universe forever and instead of doing something about it you decided to give up? Is there something that excites you, that you have always wanted to do, to create, to write etc. that you haven’t taken the time to focus on?

Today, I want you to think about it? Maybe even do something about it… Take a leap of faith and see where you may land…

John Candy

John Candy… a true comedic genius and an inspiration to Canadian actors and comedians.

It still brings a smile to my face thinking back on the many nights I enjoyed with my parents watching his films. I can still hear my mothers laughter… the kind where you can’t stop no matter how hard you try.

I watched “Spaceballs”  more times than I can count with my lifelong best friend. She doesn’t even really enjoy movies all that much but I can always count on “Spaceballs” to give her a good laugh.

His comedy didn’t just bring laughter it created great memories for me with the people I love.

Little did I know it at the time, but I ended up doing background on the last movie he directed. I will always treasure the memories I have as a result of the talented John Candy.

When I think of John Candy I think of laughter and joy and a man who followed his dreams and inspired others to do the same throughout his life.

Steve Jobs

steve-jobs-quotes

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs… whether you are an Apple fan or not it is indisputable that he is a true creator of our time. As most of us know he started with an idea in his garage and ended up building an empire. What an inspiration if you think about it? He has taught us even when times are tough and you loose your multi billion dollar company… to never give up. To follow your heart even when times are rough. To never loose faith. You need to fill your life with what you love and to not settle. Even in death he still influences technology today and provides an inspiration to a great deal of people throughout the world.

Today, do not settle… follow your heart and never give up!

Marilyn…

Marilyn Monroe

“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends – they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything – they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them – actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.”
Marilyn Monroe

While thinking of all the dreamers we have lost over the last week or two and how much they have meant to so many people across the globe, I am reminded of other inspirational people that have touched the hearts of millions. Whether they are still alive to continue to create or not, they continue to live in our hearts and in their magical gifts we were lucky enough to have shared with them. This week lets take a look back at a few dreamers that graced the world with their imagination…

Growing up I always was inspired by the beautiful and talented Marilyn Monroe. Maybe it was because my parents had a constant supply of old films on the television or most likely it was her bright and carefree spirit. She was perhaps my first introduction to the female comedic actress and inspired me to dream of becoming one as well. She lit up the screen and brought smiles and laughter to millions. She was brave enough to follow her dreams against all odds…

Embrace your Gift…

genius-albert-einstein-quote.jpg

“The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him… a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create — so that
without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating.”
Pearl S. Buck

Each and everyone of us has a gift to share with the world. The problem is most of us don’t take the time to recognize our gift. To nurture it and share it… It is your duty to take the time for it. What if all the great geniuses of the world had never explored their gifts? We wouldn’t have some of the greatest art, music, literature & technology we have today. The world is full of geniuses creating an exciting new world. The time has come to embrace your gift and your genius and play your part in this amazing journey.

Today, embrace your gift and show it the love it deserves…

Live your dreams…

fear-quotes.jpg

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

So many of us live in fear these days… Fear of failure… fear of success… sometimes even fear of fear. There are so many things we manage to be afraid of that it becomes terrifying to exist… for some of us anyway. But what I have learned and continue to learn is that when we face those fears we realize there wasn’t all that much to be afraid of to begin with. Our mind makes it much worse then it is…

Today, let go of your fears… they are the only thing holding you back from a fabulous life!

Money stress…

money_can__t_buy_happiness_by_bookworm16016-d3oy20b

Most of us stress about money… In fact I just read an article that the latest American epidemic might be called money anxiety disorder. I think it is safe to say that if there is such a thing I have it. It paralyzes me at times and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It becomes overwhelming at times. The question is how do we deal with it. How do we overcome the fear and panic… We need to breathe and focus on what really matters in life. What makes us happy? What are we grateful for? What amazing things that money can’t and never will be able to buy?

Today, make a list of things you are grateful for that are priceless…

My list is…

  1. My daughters laughter
  2. My daughters smile
  3. The purr of my kitten
  4. A hug
  5. My new job
  6. Amazing friends and family
  7. A beautiful view
  8. The sparkle of lights at night
  9. Writing
  10. Laughing so hard you can’t stop
